Description:
Inspired by that little piece of Rumor and Sighting : Daud
Still thinking abt how Daud had affiliations with the Brigmore Witches before like huh? You can’t just casually mention that and give us no information
(It's the same text and paragraph where they speak about rumors about his youth: upstart assassin, then went travelling around the isles and haunting both academy hallways and cultists' basements. The same text mentions he apparently started as a gang assassin, and after he came back from his educational trip he shifted his customer pool to the rich and powerful. Also it mentions that he also took contract out of Dunwall and Gristol. It's all from a text that's written by an undercover overseer so how much of it is true is up to the reader but all of this seems quite likely)
i find it really like interesting esp since he obvs hasnt heard of delilah so his previous affiliation w them mustve been in passing and like only met a few. Still stuck on the chronology of this. Because the Overseer report that talks about his affiliation with the witches groups it with his early adult life, before or around the time he got Marked. But the official timeline has Delilah creating the coven in 1835? Even if the report got it wrong, it makes no mention of the plague, even though the author is undercover among the poorer people and criminals. And the plague hit before Delilah created the coven.
the Brigmore Witches coven existed before Delilah as a rather low-profile group and young Daud worked with them as he starts to poke around the occult. lile not magic, but occult worshiping, bone charm carving and stuff, and lived in brigmore. So you have unmarked/freshly marked daud going to see the early brigmore witches to learn more about magic… He comes back from his visits covered in leaves/pollen/twigs and his underlings (soon-to-be-whalers) are quite puzzled as to where he's been poking his nose in. But also it's the boss he's like that he does Weird Shit.
the schism developped because Daud lost too many teeth to bonecharms experimentation
when was brigmore abadoned tho??? sthat could give an idea. The wiki says the Brigmore family lost their fortune to the whale oil boom in the early 1800s. So the manor could have been free for a while
like given it is feasible for women in that time/scoial situ to come together and practise the occult ANWYAYS, i could see a small group gathering adn becoming known as the witches, pre delilah. maybe the group even petered out and delilah rejuvenated it w her actual magic
so the wtiches daud knew were entirely different - or largely different eg no magic (since canonicalyl the witches DO talk about having known daud once). daud meeting some wtiches pre delilah -> those same witches later being lik e owo!! daud!!
Daud was only starting to research the occult back then, he'd have been interested in such a group. I was thinking pre-marked, maybe dragging a bit after his marking. he couldve worked with them to start with then gotten to know them a bit and about their occult practises, and then drifted apart
the witches canonically fangirling over Daud but they have in mind decent-looking 25yo Daud. THAT MAKES SO MUCH MORE SENSE THO. like real talk daud was probablu handsome as a young man. given he looks good at certain angles as a crusty sad chain smoking 42year old
what if delilah's first coup was w the witches. as in she coup'd the og head witch. cause she's pretty good at doing coups by 1852, seems like she might have had practice. That would make sense since a lot of the Brigmore Witches dont vibe with Delilah actually

daud, in a diary that’s only been uncovered after some construction workers lifted a very specific floorboard in a house on the other end of dunwall: “back at it again at brigmore manor. skills learned: bonecharm of agility creation”
“update. the witches stole one of my molars. will be going back with an extra three knives”
"hey can you guys give me runes? the old lady witch makes me drink toilet water for them ):"
Billie: Ever heard of those "Brigmore Witches" before?
Daud: *flashbacks to the witches daring him to smoke increasingly weird plants to test the limits of his newfound poison resistance*
Daud: Never heard of them
