Still Life Lino Print

Still Life Lino Print

My print depicts the shape of a lemon where the succulents inner layers are purposely shown. I wanted the viewer to be able to identify the fruit easily as lemon is usually recognised for its inner layers. My Idea of creating a simple clean-cut look was first developed as I began to draw up possible designs by expressing all my ideas onto paper. My ideal colour had been envisioned to be a bright vibrant pink strategically not overpowering the black going to be printed on top. Although my ideal process was to carve the lines as neat as possible, working with lino can be very unpredictable. As I was progressing further onto finishing my lino, I had come to the conclusion to accept and work with the mistakes I had carved out becoming more imperfect lines to give the fruit a different feel. Summarising the whole process, my idea was to create a print that reflected my ideal interpretation of a lemon.
