Worlds Apart

Georgia, Year 12

Our Lady of Sion College, Box Hill

For this wearable art piece I wanted it to be very symbolic and I wanted every aspect to have a meaning and somehow contribute to my overall theme of refugees and freedom. I explored skewed ideas by the media which distort refugees reputation and fear of refugees because they are ‘unknown’. The base of the dress was made out of Poplin and was made in the colour white for innocence. There is often a misconception that ties refugees to people such as terrorists when in most cases they don’t correlate.
