“We were researching Old Masters as part of our library inquiry. At the conclusion of our research we were asked to create a piece of work fusing part of an Old Master of our choice and our own modern day idea.

I chose ‘Milkmaid’ by Johannes Vermeer because I had lots of ideas when I first saw the painting. I liked the idea of working on canvas although the texture was challenging. I tried to use colours that made the cups pop because I wanted them to stand out. I used a modern colour palette for the background to show a modern twist. I really enjoyed creating this old / new piece of work.
