Emperor Penguins

Emperor Penguins

Amisha, Year 6

Holy Trinity Primary School, Wantirna South

The artist was inspired to create ‘Emperor Penguins’ because of a family visit to Philip Island to view the Penguin Parade. She was fascinated to see the little penguins coming back after a long day at sea. The setting sun, the colour of the sky, the seagulls hovering low, the silence broken by the sound of waves and the golden sand.

The artist created this artwork based on the wonderful experience I had on that memorable day. The artist used watercolour paint for the background to create the setting sun, sand and seagulls. Coloured gravel was used to add texture to the sand. Magiclay was used to create the penguins and when it was dry the details were painted using water colour paint. . The three penguins were glued into place huddled together.
