Confusion

Confusion

Maja, Year 11

Avila College, Mount Waverley

In Studio Arts Unit 2 I began exploring the theme of human emotions. Through this studio process I found interest in exploring the negative side of human emotions, specifically refined to experiences of confusion and despair. I was heavily influenced by the work of contemporary Australian artist Daniel Crooks and his unique studio process of manipulating his images. In creating this artwork, I took a series of photographs of my subject with different arm positions. The final artwork was generated by overlaying each image in Photoshop and adjusted with the opacity and composition. It was through this process that enabled me to create the desired aesthetic quality of confusion. I am interested in how artworks can be interpreted in many different ways. It is this ambiguous aesthetic that I am exploring within this artwork.
