In ⅚D 2019, we read and explored the themes and symbols in Usborne Young Readers Edition of ‘Moby Dick’ by Herman Melville. Students explored the vocabulary, the context in which the book was written, the themes in the text, and the symbols in the text. Inspired by the story students worked with wood, wire, glass, and created a traditional ship in a bottle. Students inserted the ship into the bottle with full rigging, then students lifted the masts with an attached wire. A precarious process!
