Our creation, “A Silent And Holy Night”, shows Jesus’s birth on Christmas Day, or the nativity scene. We created this throughout our learning of Art And Italian with our Italian teacher Sandra DI VITA. In Art And Italian, we learnt about Italian Christmas Traditions, including ‘il presepio’. ‘Il presepio’ is ‘Nativity Scene’ in Italian, and it is a tradition in Italy to have at least one Nativity Scene in your home, whether it being Jesus being born in a manger, or the wise men travelling. St. Francis was the one who brought the tradition of having a nativity scene in your home. Whilst doing this activity we felt content and also wondered and thought about what i would be like to be at the first Christmas.‘A Silent And Holy Night’ was made by using our fine line drawing skills and watercolors. This shows the end of the long lasting journey to find the new baby king, Jesus. In one of the pieces, we made each character silhouetted and shadowed, making it look like everything is dark and quiet. The other one, is very detailed and blissful looking, from the smiles on the animals faces, to Mary with Jesus. Both are combined very well.
