Consumed explores youth culture and their struggles within society. This series of images utilises the contrasting colours of black and white to illustrate the models in the artworks as being ‘consumed’ by and dealing with their own life issues, controlling their emotions and expressing their feelings.

Through my artworks, I aim to make the audience perceive the horror and sadness that I want to portray. The female model has been covered with black paint around her hair and with a cross over her mouth to show that she is not allowed to speak her own words. The male model is also outlined with the black paint with a cross covering his face. The thick gestural cross covering the model’s face represents that he is not allowed to express his how he feels as men are expected to hide their emotions.
