The Grade 1 students listened to a number of stories which had been nominated for the Children's Book Week Awards, including 'Noni The Pony- Rescues a Joey' and 'Dogasaurus'. After discussing different animals and pets, Zara chose to make a cat.

The base of her cat was formed using a cardboard roll and scrunched up newspaper. Zara then covered it with layers of newspaper and white paper using the technique of papier mache. Zara finished off her cat by painting it with brightly coloured Vipond paints and adding tinsel stem whiskers and joggle eyes.
