Famous Inventors Relief Portrait

Famous Inventors Relief Portrait

Benice, Year 6

St Theresa's School, Albion

In term three, my class created three-dimensional portraits of famous inventors for art. This topic was based on our inquiry topic of researching inventors or people that contributed to the world in some way. We had to use a variety of different skills and techniques in order to accurately sculpt the inventors we chose to make. In the process, we had to focus on the different elements we used on our portraits, including shape, colour, form and texture. For the inventor I chose, Thomas Edison, I had to think especially about the different colours and shapes in his clothing. What would an inventor wear? A part I found challenging was trying to capture his features in the painting and sculpting process. I aimed to at least represent him and his work in some way, instead of trying to make him as realistic as possible. I’d hoped I’d captured his brilliant mind in some way.
