The students investigated the life and works of Wayne Thiebauld. Some of Thiebauld’s most famous works are of sweets and cakes. The Year five and six students practiced how to create form by looking at the shapes we see in pictures of cakes. The students blended oil pastels with lighter and darker shades to further exaggerate the cake’s form. The students made decisions on how to decorate their cakes, making sure they choose colours that make the cakes look like they are good enough to eat.
