Mexican Inspired Mary

Mexican Inspired Mary

Seb, Year 6

St Joseph's Primary School, Chelsea

After studying several Mexican art pieces, This artwork was inspired by our learning about images of Mary as part of our Art Sessions. Our class was focusing on Mary our Mother, so wanted to create calm and gentle looking images. We created these Contemporary pieces during the month of May. My thoughts and feelings that went into the creation of the art piece were using dark and light blue because they are often favourite colours used to symbolise and represent Mary. I also used oil pastel under the tempera paints to create an oil resist effect which make the colours stand out and be more bold.
