Hand Dyed silk fabric with hand embroidery embellishments: I have created a garment intended to fit the 2015 theme of the Met Gala ‘China Through the Looking Glass’. Inspired by many aspects of China's rich history, such as the use of silk fabric which was first seen on China's silk road. Other aspects in my garment include an embroidered peach tree blossom, and symbolic colours, all aspects are very important to the Chinese culture with everything having a specific meaning. My intention for this garment was to create a piece that shows how Chinese culture has influenced western fashion.
