This totem is inspired by nature, human emotions as well as keeping the traditional totem designs. We decided to use white paint because we didn’t want to detract from its form, as we planned on keeping it very simple and have the audience focus only on the sculpture rather than the colour of the paint.

This art piece is a representation of culture. If we truly live multiculturally, there will be no need for colour. We consider our piece to be unknown and unique and that it doesn’t belong to any specific culture. The process of making this totem was very difficult as we had a lot of ideas so we weren’t able to choose a specific design. We also struggled to create this piece because our structure was not finalised therefore we couldn’t go with the idea we originally wanted.
