The Met Gala is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan

Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. I have designed and created a silk garment to suit the 2018 Met Gala theme, Heavenly Bodies; Fashion and the Catholic imagination. The bodice has free arm stitching to set texture on the wings. The piece I have made is inspired by angel imagery, represented through muted tones. The lines of the bodice symbolise angel wings, and I have included a headpiece to mimic the image of the halo frequently depicted in catholic imagery
