This artwork was inspired by John Canty's picture story book Heads and Tails Insects. I examined the detail of the insects in the book and began to create my own detailed insect sketches. These sketches were then used to plan and create a wire sculpture. Whilst working on the sculpture I kept adding pieces of wire to recreate the detail of the sketches. The rainbow wire was used to show the way an insect's wings shimmer in the light. At first I wasn't happy with the result but when the sculpture was mounted and put on display I began to appreciate it more
