Hens

Hens

Serah, Year 5

St Augustine's School, Frankston South

In Term 2, we went to the MC Escher exhibition at the Art Gallery in the city. We studied tessellations, how to make and create a tessellations. First we had to fold paper to form a tessellation. I had to experiment and fold paper a couple of times until I eventually formed a shape and it looked like a hen. It took me a while to understand how it works and what it looked like. Then we had to trace our tessellation over and over to make sure that it actually tessellated. I worked really hard for it to fit perfectly. I then used water colours, orange and yellow, to colour my hens alternating. I used black and white pens to finish it with detail.I enjoyed making this artwork, using the materials and learning to create and form a tessellation. I am very proud of my work.
