'Freedom' was created as a response to portraiture. Students were challenged to create a portrait of their pet that shows the character and relationship that exists between the pet and its owner. The artist of this piece tried to express his relationship with his birds by drawing them outside of the cage. He believes that by nature, birds represent freedom because of their ability to fly, and as part of his responsibilities he allows his birds to experience that freedom on a regular basis.
