The principal investigator (PI) initiates the process by engaging with the director of the Applied Oral Health Research Unit (AOHRU), Dr. Lagravere.
Dr. Lagravere then notifies the clinical research assistant (CRA), Corrie Hemminger, to begin the coordination process.

This step ensures that all research support structures are in place prior to the official start of the project.
