Sidexis software was updated over the summer. While the new version is user-friendly, there will still be a learning curve for all users. To aid in the transition, a step-by-step PowerPoint guide has been created to facilitate implementation. This resource is available on DentraNet>Oral Health Clinic>Discipline Specific Resources>Radiology and will also be accessible to students through their eClass courses. Please make sure to review it before the first day of clinic.Â
For students: we kindly ask you to please check your patient's previous images before the appointment. Due to the size of our database, the previous image generator is still ongoing. If you don't see the previous images in the Sidexis timeline, please make sure to load the images before the patient’s appointment and before deciding which new images to take. The step-by-step guide to load previous images is also available on DentraNet and eClass.
Work on improving the stability of Sidexis 4 is still ongoing. We have seen improvements in the last couple of days and are hopeful this will continue into next week.Â
Just a reminder that if you experience any issues accessing Sidexis (such as fatal errors causing the program to crash), please follow the instructions in the Troubleshooting Other Sidexis 4 Errors document.Â
Thanks to those that have reached out and included the requested information.

Starting Tuesday, September 3, DDS3 and DDS4 students will have their extension numbers activated for any after-hours emergencies that may occur during the regular term. Students must provide their patients with an After-Hours Emergency Contact Card which includes their respective extension number (axiUm D number).
Please see the OHC Clinic Manual - Emergency Care for details.
Effective immediately, please see the new process for HVE & LVE maintenance which is to be completed after each clinical session:

As a reflection in current IPC guidance, we will be discontinuing the routine use of preprocedural mouth rinse. Â
We will continue using a preprocedural mouth rinse for all surgical procedures and as required by the patient's medical/dental condition.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this change, please do not hesitate to contact our HSE Coordinator at dentHSE@ualberta.ca.
