As of November 1, 2024 CDCP will be accepting paper claims, pre-authorization as well as the start of coverage for procedures on SCHEDULE B.Â
CDCP will be considering medical rationale when determining coverage for Pre-authorized treatment, including additional units of scaling. Medical diagnosis of conditions that would limit a patient's ability to administer proper oral health practices will be considered (such as dementia). The number of additional units of scaling are set based on a patient’s specific need, there is no set maximum number of additional units.Â
Identifying a Patient with CDCP Coverage:Â
All patients with CDCP insurance MUST have the coverage for treatment verified and the patient must be notified about their costs prior to treatment being started. Our staff can verify coverage by sending a pre-authorization via CDAnet for Schedule A procedures.
When you open a patient’s axiUm chart an alert will pop up with this info:
You can also identify a patient with CDCP by this symbol being at the bottom of the screen Â
Anticipated treatment is pre-authorized the day before the appointment and a Sticky Note is placed on the patient card with the coverage. Â If additional treatment is needed - Students must request a Patient Services Clerk pre-authorized the additional treatment and the patient must be notified of coverage prior to treatment commencing.
Reminder! Clinical Attire Requirements
We are well into the school year now and it’s come to our attention that our clinic attire standards are slipping. Please remember to ensure you come to the clinic prepared. Prepared means:
A freshly laundered head coverÂ
A freshly laundered set of scrubs
Dedicated clinic shoes that cover the entire foot including the entire heel, and have non-slip grips
Safety glasses with side shields or
Loupes with side shields
Mask Use During Patient Care
Recall from your Clinical Preparation IPC training that you are required to wear a mask at all times when in any area where patient care is occurring. Your mask must cover your nose and mouth when worn. DO NOT pull your mask down under your chin while the ear loops are still around your ears - this is an IPC infraction and you might be reported.
