As per SoD OHC policy, current CPR certification (Canadian Heart & Stroke Basic LIfe Support) is required for all students, clinical grad students, residents, faculty and RDA/RDH support staff who work in our clinical environment. Additionally, the University of Alberta HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) requires that anyone participating in clinical activities must be familiar with the OHC's Emergency Management protocols.
Students must successfully complete the self-directed online component in order to be eligible to register for the in-person skills test. The School of Dentistry has arranged for Professional Medical Associates to provide the CPR BLS online component and facilitate the practical in-person components of both CPR BLS + Emergency Management. Each student must register in advance - please see details below.
As for the Emergency Management self-directed online component - content is currently under revision. The new Emergency Management course will be hosted in eClass - link will be provided when the course is finalized. The Emergency Management course must be completed in advance of the in-person CPR BLS/Emergency Management session.
Please note that students are responsible for the cost of the CPR course and must register well in advance using the link found in this form. Â
Completion of the online CPR BLS course and subsequent registration for the in-person component must be completed anytime between May 20 - August 20, 2023.
DUE TO SCHEDULING CHALLENGES, NO LATE REGISTRATIONS WILL BE PROCESSED.
