Please be informed that patients are now required to sign the Screening Form after the results have been discussed with them, regardless of whether they require a prosthodontic consult. If tentatively accepted and a prosthodontic consult is needed, the form should be reviewed with the patient post-consult, and the patient should sign it then.
Please ensure that patients receive a hard copy of the Post-Screening Rejection letter if they are not accepted (Forms > Exit & Inactivation Letter > Post-Screening Rejection).
Additionally, outcomes of prosthodontic consults will be reflected in the patient's EHR alert box:
Not Accepted - Case Too Complex
Accepted for Phase 1 & 2 Tx Only - No Phase 3 Tx
Accepted for Phase 1 & 2 Tx - Potential for Phase 3 Tx
We are aware of updated American Dental Association (ADA) recommendations with regards to discontinuing the use of lead aprons and thyroid collars for patients when taking dental radiographs. Â
Please be aware that treatment providers in the School of Dentistry are regulated by CDSA and ACDH, and must comply with OHS and Canada Safety code 30. As of now, there are no updates from these organizations related to this matter. Therefore, there are no changes in protocols with respect to radiographic shielding of patients in the School of Dentistry.
Students, staff, and faculty will be informed of any updates.
Due to sourcing issues with Johnson & Johnson® waxed floss, the OHC will be transitioning to Glide® original floss for dental dam applications. Your feedback on the new product's effectiveness is valuable - if it proves unsuitable, we will seek alternative solutions.Â
Thank you for your cooperation during this transition.
