Dear Students, Faculty & Staff,
The IPC Team, along with Dr. Lunardon, Dr. Senior and Dr. Patterson, wants to share a bit of fun news with all of our undergraduate and graduate students regarding your clinical attire for next term.Â
You may have noticed that dental hygiene students have been wearing different colored scrubs than their assigned class scrubs color on Friday’s. The Fun Scrub Friday pilot was initiated as a fun way to mark the end of another week of school and to allow students to express themselves with the scrub color of their choice. With the success of this pilot, we would like to roll it out for the rest of our clinical students.Â
It is important to note that wearing a scrub colour other than your assigned class scrub colour is a privilege and failure to follow the guidelines for Fun Scrub Friday will result in having to return to only allowing assigned class scrub colors in our clinical spaces. Please read below for the rules for Fun Scrub Friday.
Unless otherwise approved by the Clinical Operations Committee and the IPC Team, Fun Scrub Friday, will only occur on Fridays. You must wear your assigned program/year scrub colour every other day of the week.
The scrubs you choose to wear on Fun Scrub Friday must adhere to our clinical attire, PPE & general IPC requirements.
Solid color or patterned fabrics are allowed provided the pattern, style and fit of the scrubs is professional in appearance. No inappropriate symbols, words or motifs will be tolerated.
Please make sure that you always have your one card and AHS card with you for identification/access purposes.
Scrub caps or bouffant caps are still required on Fun Scrub Fridays. Remember, all of your hair must be covered by the scrub cap/bouffant cap - ponytails or medium length hair sticking out the back/bottom of the scrub cap is NOT allowed.
Ensure you bring both your safety glasses and full face shield to every clinic as you should be using both during a patient care appointment. To review the clinic attire, PPE & general IPC requirements see the School of Dentistry Oral Health Clinic Manual
