DDS students are asked to begin transferring all items on their assigned lab shelves in the KEC Student Lab to their assigned lockers. This must be done by the end of Intersession Term (July 7) in preparation for the proposed lab renovation.
Additionally, DDS students are asked to return any loaned items from Dispensary that are not in use (bite forks, impression trays, etc) to the Soiled Counter as soon as possible.
Please ensure diagnostic casts have been scanned using the 3 Shape lab scanner in the Prosthodontics Lab before the end of the Intersession Term. Please discard old lab cases ie. working casts, if the case has been completed. Please remove mounting plaster and save mounting plates.
Please remember that the Prosthodontics Lab is open from 7:45am-11:45am and 12:45pm-4:15pm.
Please contact Paul Ladell with any questions or concerns about using the 3 Shape lab scanner.Â
With all of the recent changes to our clinical IPC, our absence protocols related to illness have reverted back to our original processes. Please review the procedures below and follow them should you find yourself ill/absent from patient care clinics.
If your illness is influenza-like (ILI) you are encouraged to stay home until your symptoms have lessened and you feel well enough to be on campus.Â
COVID-19 rapid antigen testing is still encouraged, but not required. If COVID-19 is strongly suspected or confirmed, then it is recommended that you remain home until symptoms have mostly resolved (usually 5 days). Symptoms DO NOT have to be completely gone to return to campus*, rather they need to be well controlled to avoid excessive coughing & sneezing which may cause others to become ill as well.
*If you do decide to attend campus while recovering from an ILI, remember that we work in healthcare and we have a responsibility to protect those around us by continuously wearing a mask and keeping our hands clean when on campus during our recovery period.
SoD OHC Support Staff: contact your supervisor directly to inform them that you are ill and will be away. Enter your absence hours on your timesheet in Bear Tracks and remain at home until you are feeling well enough to return. Should you or your supervisor need assistance with timelines for absences due to illness, please contact the SoD HSE Coordinator, Ronna Richardson-Lozano, to discuss. Â
For absences not due to illness, please follow your supervisor's established process.Â
SoD OHC Faculty and Instructional Staff: email your discipline lead / program director indicating you are ill and will not be on campus that day. If you have a clinical teaching commitment that day, please email axiumsup@ualberta.ca as soon as possible so that alternate arrangements can be made for your assigned learners.
DDS Clinical Instructors - please see this Absence Protocol.
Students/Clinical Graduate Students/Residents: If you will be absent on a day you are scheduled for patient care clinics you must ensure that your patient is managed by another treatment provider or rebooked.Â
DDS students: email absdds@ualberta.ca & message "Patient Services" (in axiUm) as soon as possible.
DH students: email your respective DH Clinical Coordinator & message "Patient Services" (in axiUm) as soon as possible.
Clinical graduate students & GPR residents: email your Program Director & Clinical Supervisor as soon as possible.
Please see this for upcoming opportunities to have something different for lunch at KEC!
