Students must "tie" planned treatment to appointment requests as these are often booked by Patient Services Clerks at check out. Â
"Tying" planned treatment to appointments facilitates automatic equipment requests - no need for manual equipment requests in these cases. Please see the section on Making an Appointment Request (pgs 25-29) for instructions.
Students who have patients without planned treatment (eg. Recall Exam or New Patient Exam) will need to submit a manual equipment request (pg 28 Making an Appointment Request).
Please review all equipment requests at least 48 hours prior to the appointment - if additional equipment is required, students must add a manual request for the additional equipment 48 hours in advance of the scheduled appointment. Failure to do so negatively impacts workflows in Central Sterilization. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!
Please contact Keri Pilon or Melanie Chouinard with any questions or concerns.
Prior to sending instruments and bur blocks to the soiled counter, ensure that all gross debris Is thoroughly removed. Â
This small step contributes to the overall efficiency of the Central Sterilization unit.
Please exercise caution when retrieving or placing cassettes into the cubbies that back into the Central Sterilization unit - the cubbies have no backing. Occasionally, smaller items (eg. sharpening stones) inside these cubbies can inadvertently fall onto the floor in Central Sterilization.
