Dear Staff, Faculty and Students,
On June 13, 2022, the Alberta Government announced that all remaining COVID-19 restrictions for Albertans have been lifted as of midnight 14 June 2022. See the provincial announcement here. Â
The University of Alberta has moved away from COVID-19 restrictions and instead opted to provide strong recommendations to protect yourself and others while on the greater campus outside of the School of Dentistry. Here is the UofA June 15 COVID-19 Update.
We can anticipate a more relaxed atmosphere in our lives away from the School of Dentistry and the possibility of a summer full of family and friends.Â
Here, in the School of Dentistry KEC facilities, it will be business as usual… during a pandemic. Although restrictions have been lifted elsewhere, we will continue to follow our established COVID-19 pandemic precautions as advised by Alberta Health Services. For the time being, Fit for Work screening, vaccine requirements, isolation requirements, patient screening, all PPE and of course, our favourite, … HAND HYGIENE will not change from what we have been doing the past two years.
Health officials have reminded us that even though restrictions have been lifted, we are still in a pandemic and as fall and cooler weather sets in, we may see a reinstatement of pandemic restrictions based on our provincial COVID-19 hospitalization rates.
