Please remember that the OHC has a Zero Tolerance for Abusive Behaviour Policy that states:
“Our staff and students come to work to care for others, and we are committed to providing a safe, secure and respectful environment for everyone. It is important that all members of the public, our staff and our students be treated with courtesy and respect. Words or actions that make others feel threatened or shamed will not be tolerated and may result in permanent dismissal from the School of Dentistry Oral Health Clinic.”
Students must notify their supervising instructor, as well as their CC Director/DDS Lead/DH Lead, of a patient’s inappropriate behaviour. The custodian(s) of the patient’s chart is ultimately responsible for decisions regarding patient dismissal.
Effective February 27th, DH students will no longer need to document the return of their instrumentation to the Soiled Counter since all instrumentation is now barcoded and tracked through axiUm. Please contact Keri Pilon with any questions or concerns.
DDS & DH students are reminded to refer to the Periodontal Debridement Fee Structure & Radiology Guidelines based on Periodontal Classification when treatment planning IPT and MSPT for their patients. The use of axiUm Quick Lists (macro codes) auto populates the treatment plan with the predetermined number of units of periodontal debridement based on the patient's periodontal classification.
Please remember to sort material for recycling and dispose of it in the appropriate HARD PLASTIC or CARDBOARD containers.
Please use small recycling containers for collecting confidential information only and dispose of confidential paper documents in the bin pictured below:
Please DO NOT use the small blue recycling containers for mixed recycling ie. paper, plastics, cardboard, etc. KEC maintenance staff will not collect waste from small blue recycling bins.
All cardboard recycling needs to be placed in a clear bag designated for cardboard recycling only.
All hard plastic recycling needs to be placed in a clear bag designated for hard plastic recycling only.
Soft plastics, for example plastic bags, shrink wrap are no longer acceptable within the plastic recycling stream. These items are now considered general waste.
Programs and areas need to make this change in response to vendor process changes and their inability to collect and sort our waste materials appropriately. Increased separation at the point of disposal is required to ensure materials are able to be recycled.
Programs and areas who are participating in recycling programs will be required to establish a collection process to ensure proper separation.
Thanks for your cooperation :-)
Beginning Tuesday, February 21st, clinical staff will be performing Dental Unit Water Line (DUWL) maintenance which includes shocking, flushing and testing of all 6 water lines on every one of the 125 dental units in the OHC.
Once the shocking process is complete, the DUWLs will be flushed with clean water. The final step in this process is to test water samples from each and every water line to ensure it is safe for patient care.
Student access to the Sim Lab in Kipnes as well as the Student Lab in KEC will remain unchanged during Reading Week.
Please don't forget to submit a SoD Fit for Work Screening Questionnaire form if coming into KEC Student Lab.
Please note that all DDS and clinical grad students will have their after-hours extension numbers inactivated during Reading Week, from 4:00pm on February 17 until 8:00am on February 27. Many thanks to the following directors who will be managing after-hours emergency calls during this time:
