It has come to our attention that there has been an increase in the consumption and distribution of OHI products beyond typical usage levels. While we understand that these products are being sent home with patients for their care, we would like to remind everyone to distribute them in moderation.
Please ensure that you are demonstrating the products to the patients during their chairside appointments and only the products being demonstrated should be sent home with the patient - please refrain from providing “extras” beyond what was directly shown and explained during the appointment.
It has come to our attention that some operators are using multiple towels in the operatories, particularly placing a towel on the mayo cart under the cavitron or cassette.
Please ensure that linens are being used primarily for patient care and well-being, rather than as a barrier. If the cavitron is leaking water, and this is the reason for extra towels, kindly return the cavitron to the dispensary and notify a staff member of the issue so it can be addressed.
REMINDER: Radiology Report & Radiology review
Please see the link to the Radiology Report section in the Clinic Manual.Â
Note: if you have a Pan + 4 BWs taken on the same appointment, the rad report should be completed for all images, not only for the extraoral.
ATTENTION: DDS/DH KEC Student Lab Maintenance
Maintaining cleanliness in the lab is crucial for ensuring a safe and productive environment. Please remember to:
Clean your workspace after use.
Dispose of waste properly in designated bins.
Keep equipment, tools, counters, and sinks clean, organized, free of debris and in good condition.
Avoid Lab Closure - Refer to DDS/DH – KEC Student Lab Maintenance Schedule to find out which student group is responsible for maintaining the lab's cleanliness each week
If you require an instrument replacement in your cassette due to over-sharpening, dullness, or other issues, please follow the procedure outlined below: Instrument replacement tags are available at the dispensary’s soiled return counter.

REMINDER: AHS Facilities Maintenance & Engineering - Portable Space Heaters
Use of Portable Space Heaters in AHS premises is not permitted. In light of recent snowfalls and colder temperatures, Facilities Maintenance and Engineering, Protective Services- Fire and Life Safety along with Property Management would like to take this opportunity to remind staff of the rules regarding portable space heaters in the workplace. A growing number of portable space heaters are being brought into work spaces by staff who find their interior work space temperature uncomfortably cool. Statistics indicate that approximately 8% of all fires and 46% of fire-related deaths are caused by portable space heaters. In addition, units with improperly covered heating elements pose a potential risk of serious burns.
If your office is too cold and you cannot adjust the thermostat, please inform us, and we will contact Facilities Maintenance.
UPDATE: KEC TEAMÂ
With the implementation of my new position, I am taking the opportunity to make some changes that fall within my portfolio that will help with service delivery.
One notable change involves the finance team and related activities. Given that the primary responsibilities of the patient services booking clerks revolve around processing payments and addressing questions regarding insurance and the CDCP, the finance team in Kipnes will be relocating to KEC in the new year. These two groups interact daily, and bringing them closer together will enhance the financial services provided to our patients. The finance team will be situated at the back of patient services. Cheryl Moffat and Shanna Wright will move into the office the four DH leads currently occupy. In turn, the four DH leads will relocate to room 8C106, which will provide them with a more comfortable working environment.
If you need to book a room in KEC, please feel free to contact the following individuals:
- Melanie Chouinard
- Kari Rarick
- Kate Pohranychny
- Melanie Deveault
- Susan Helwig
The KEC available rooms for use are:
- 8A124
- 8A132
- 8D136
- 7C102 (Theatre on the 7th floor)
- 7F110 (accommodates up to 25 people)
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Thank you!

Food Bank Drive: Let’s fill Keri Pilon’s Mini Cooper!
By giving to Edmonton's Food Bank you are not only feeding people...you are giving hope and creating a kinder community.
Keri Pilon is arranging a donation to the food bank, more than ever food donations are significantly needed, and I was hoping for your support to help fill my Mini Cooper with food donations. There is a donation box located just outside the Materials Management/Stores door in the back hallway by the staff/student elevators for anyone who would like to drop off non-perishable items, until Dec.12.
I have attached a list of the food banks most needed items, if you aren't sure what to bring.
Thank you all in advance for supporting this cause in any way you can!
Santas AnonymousÂ
Join us in making this holiday season magical for every child!Â
Santa’s Anonymous is often short of items for infants to 2 year olds and 9 to 12 year olds.
Toy donations should be new unwrapped toys. Toys with lots of play value make the very best gifts! If a toy can be played alone or with another child, can be played in many different ways and doesn’t need batteries or electronics - it has lots of play value!Â

We wanted to share a comment we received from one of our patients through our SoD OHC Patient Satisfaction Survey:
Excellent care! I have always had a positive experience from booking appointments to check-in, treatment, and check out. The entire program is outstanding. I am most grateful
