Starting February 5, 2024, DDS students involved in screening may be assigned two patients per clinical session based on each CC team’s need for new patients. Additionally, DH students who are assigned to clinic and do not have a patient booked may choose to collaborate with a DDS III or DDS IV student in the screening process. Please see the details below:
CC Treatment Coordinators will either:
schedule 2 patients per clinical session for DDS III/IV students participating in screening. Please note that only screening will take place during this appointment.Â
Patients, if accepted, will return for new patient exam
schedule 1 patient per clinical session for DDS III/IV students participating in screening. Â
Patients, if accepted, will continue with Complete Examination
Patients, if tentatively accepted, will continue with Prosthodontic Consultation, and if accepted, will continue with Complete Examination
Unbooked DH3/DH4 students will check in with their DH supervising instructor.
DH instructor may check DDS Daysheet to see which DDS students are assigned to screening
DH students may choose to collaborate with DDS students in screeningÂ
both DDS and DH students will need to be familiar with New Patient Intake - Screening Protocol)
Please remember:Â not all individuals are suitable cases for undergraduate students - some patients will be rejected based on the criteria in the PDI.
Starting Feb. 5, 2024, Beautifil Flow Plus will be available in Dispensary. This material is intended for class Vs and margin/proximal box elevation. Isolation with a rubber dam is essential. Â
All treatment providers in the OHC are required to run copious amounts of water through all used evacuation lines for 30 - 60 seconds (post-procedure) after each patient encounter during which LVE/HVE were used. Thank you for your cooperation!
Effective February 5, 2024, there will be no fee for an Endodontic Examination (01801) in the DDS program. Please ensure this code is treatment planned with each endo consult.
Please ensure all sharps are completely contained in the appropriate sharps container.
Please ensure all instruments are free of debris before placing them back into cassettes - please see image below. Returning cassettes to the Soiled Counter in this state negatively impacts workflow in Central Sterilization and clinical operations in general. Thank you for your cooperation.
Please move microscopes to and from the Dispensary using the large central post, rather than the adapter located on the right side of the microscope, just above the handle.Â
Please DO NOT move the microscope using the adapter in which the HDMI cables are attached as this will disturb the fragile cable connection, damage the plug-in causing the images to not display on the monitor, and necessitate replacement of the HDMI connector.
There have been a number of recent incidents regarding significant and costly damage to equipment in the OHC. Recent damages are related to needlessly applying excessive force. Damage to operatory equipment may leave operatories out of order for extended periods of time, negatively impacting OHC capacity.
Please be mindful of how equipment is handled as parts are not only very expensive, but delivery time may extend to weeks/months.Â
Recent technology updates to the Radio system have made the five-digit dialing and local numbers to the Protective Services PSCC obsolete. AHS PS has an interim solution to temporarily allow five-digit dialing and local numbers to the PSCC. AHS PS in the process of decommissioning the use of any number other than the 1.888.999.3770 for contacting Provincial Security Communication Centre (PSCC).
What does this mean?
Any phones programmed to contact PSCC (five-digit dialing and local numbers) will have to re-programmed to the 1.888.999.3770
Provincial Switchboard will be advised to direct all callers to contact PSCC by the use of 1-888-999-3770
Patient Watch or Security Watch services can be requested by contacting 1-888-301-8484
