Faculty, staff, grad students, and residents are invited to the MPSoD awards ceremony on Nov. 18.
With new programs, increased student numbers, less classroom space to work with, and competing needs for clinical/sim lab space, we needed to create a tool and process that would consolidate and automate the academic planning process and scheduling of activities. These are the issues we are trying to address with the implementation of calendar.med.
If you are not subscribed to calendar.med yet, please visit: calendar.med.ualberta.ca at your earliest convenience as this is THE schedule for all programs in the Mike Petryk School of Dentistry. All event types (lectures, labs, clinics, etc) for all programs are listed in calendar.med. Individual faculty members can subscribe to calendar.med by following these instructions and will then have events automatically populated and updated in their own personal calendar.
Subscribe to MPSoD Academic Scheduling Timelines (google calendar) for important deadlines that will appear in your google calendar. Please note that you must be signed in to your ualberta account.
Course planners and schedulers will be invited to specific MPSoD Academic Scheduling Timelines events based on their role. These individuals will receive automatic email notifications for upcoming deadlines that pertain to them.
Please complete and submit this form.

How To: Setting Up Notifications for calendar.med Events - Google Docs
The simplest way to do this would be to log in to calendar.med on a browser on your phone and click the iCalendar button.
This will give you an iCalendar URL with a button on the right to copy the link.
Then, go to the calendar app on your iPhone or iPad, click on calendars at the bottom to see the calendars list and click add calendar (bottom left).
Choose subscription calendar and paste the URL copied from calendar.med.
Hit the subscribe button to add it to your calendar (it will appear under the subscribed header in the calendar list).
Full-time and part-time faculty and staff involved in teaching are encouraged to subscribe to calendar.med so that events that are specifically assigned to them are displayed in their personal google calendars. In this way, faculty members will no longer need to transfer their schedule (previously PDFs, google docs, paper, emails) into their own calendars. If you are experiencing difficulty in subscribing to calendar.med, please contact denteval@ualberta.ca for help.
The calendar.med Change Request Form is an online google form people can use to request changes to events in calendar.med. Change requests will be directed to and processed by the appropriate support staff member based on the change requested.
Once changes are processed, they will be reflected in calendar.med in the “online interface”. Changes will also be reflected in personal Google calendars if the event is directly tied to you as an instructor and only if you’ve subscribed to calendar.med. Please remember that you only need to subscribe once to calendar.med using “Google calendar sync.”
You can view who does what and when in the Change Request Process Map here.

The term ‘lockd own’ is essentially the time at which the draft schedule of a term in calendar.med becomes final.
Although this is not a targeted tool for support staff, it still can be very useful. It allows everyone to see all the events related to clinical, didactic and labs. Support staff who would like to view events can contact denteval@ualberta.ca for access.
Please contact denteval@ualberta.ca if you need help.
