¾ cup soft shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
¼ cup molasses
2 ¼ cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon cloves
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ginger
Mix together shortening, brown sugar, egg and molasses.
Sift together the bolded ingredients. Mix well.
Refrigerate for 4-6 hours. Roll into balls and dip into sugar.
Bake 8-10 minutes at 375.
