A chrome profile is a Google account that acts as it's own personalised web browser by logging into the Google Account within the Chrome web browser.
As a Strictly Savvy team member, you'll be set up with a Chrome Profile that you will use for all of your internal work. This Chrome profile is where you will pin tabs to your bookmarks bar that you need to access regularly. Your Chrome Profile will be set up by the Office Administrator and they will have pinned a number of tabs to your bookmarks bar already such as your Welcome Board, time tracking tool, email, Xero, task management tool etc.
You will also have a Chrome Profile set up for each of your clients, by the Office Administrator, after the handover meeting.
You'll find the Chrome Profile logins in Lastpass in a shared folder called Client Chrome Profiles. For each client, we have either used their Google Account they already have or if they don't have one already, then we have set up a free Google account with the format [Name]strictlysavvy@gmail.com for the sole purpose of logging into a Chrome browser.
When you are completing tasks for clients and you need to log in to online tools for the task, you'll need to access their Chrome Profile. Once you have logged into the Chrome profile you need, with the login details from Lastpass, you will then see that the websites /online tools you need to access are bookmarked on the Bookmarks bar.
You will also find the Google Sites Handbook (sometimes previously referred to as cheatsheet) bookmarked on the bookmarks bar. This is a document that we use to document instructions for the client.
In our timesheet notes please refer to the Google Sites Handbook as 'The Handbook'.
Any websites or online tools that we use for a client will be bookmarked on the corresponding Chrome profile bookmarks bar, with the passwords stored in Lastpass and shared with you. If you can't see the password you need in Lastpass you need to ask the Office Administrator for access.
Note: Often projects and creative tasks can be completed without using a Chrome Profile. Creative team members will be using the Adobe Suite for many of the tasks and not needing to access any of the client's online tools via the bookmarks. It is important however that new details, instructions or preferences that are acquired from a client are added to the client Cheatsheet - so you will need to access the Cheatsheet via the bookmark on the corresponding Chrome profile.
To switch between Chrome Profiles/Chrome Bars that are already added to your list:
In a Chrome browser, click on the circle icon in the top right of a Chrome Web Browser (this may be a picture, or initials in a circle) and then choose the profile you need from the list.
To add a new Chrome Profile:
Open a Chrome browser and click on the circle icon in the top right of a Chrome Web Browser (this may be a picture, or initials in a circle)
Sroll to the bottom of the pop up list and click on Manage People, then click +Add.
Click Sign In.
Enter the Email Address and the Password for the Chrome Profile that you are trying to access, from in your LastPass (in another browser). Then choose to Sync the profile via 'yes I'm in!'
The bookmarks bar should also now appear once sync is turned on, however if it doesn't then you need to click the three-dot menu and choose Bookmarks, then Show Bookmarks Bar.
You will then need to login to your LastPass account again on this new Chrome Bar, by clicking the LastPass extension icon and logging in. *Note that some clients have a LastPass account that we use to login to sites with, you, therefore, need to login to the client's LastPass account on that Chrome Profile rather than yours. The task instructions and/or Handbook will note this so you know.
