Check for HP and Windows updates at least once a month, or whenever you have downtime, or if you find your laptop isn't running well.
Click on the HP Support Assistant logo pinned to your taskbar - it is a question mark inside a blue circle
Select Updates
Select an update by clicking on the tick box beside it and then clicking on Download and install (see pic below)
Follow the prompts until the update is complete
Continue to download and install all updates until they are all done
HP updates can run in the background while you work and often don't require you to restart the laptop unless prompted
Click on the Settings icon pinned to your taskbar - the cog symbol - or type in Settings in the search bar
Select Update & Security
Click on Windows Update
At the top there will either be a button that says Check for updates or one that says Download if there is an update ready to be installed. Click on whichever one is showing (see pic below)
If there are any updates pending, they will start loading and installing - this may take some time depending on how many updates there are. You may be asked to restart your laptop several times in the process, so follow any prompts to do so, keeping in mind that each time you do a restart you will need to log back on to your computer and repeat steps 1-4.
Keep going until you have a green tick and it says You're up to date at the top of the page (see pic below)
