Homecoming Representative forms are now available in the Wildcat Den! If you are interested in running for a class representative position and taking home the top prize, you have until the 18th to sign up! You must have a 2.0 GPA, receive twenty student signatures, and participate in all Homecoming activities. There is no better way to get involved and make a name for yourself here at AHS. Winners will be announced at the Homecoming assembly! If you have any questions, please reach out to Mr. Thatcher.
Spirit Days are almost upon us! Starting the 21st of September, we’ll have a week full of activities and themes.
Monday: PJ Day (wear pajamas)
Tuesday: Adam Sandler Day (Google Adam Sandler and dress like that)
Wednesday: Surfers vs. Bikers Day (pick a side!)
Thursday: Wig Out Day (wear a wig)
Friday: Class Color Day (freshmen are orange, sophomores are yellow, juniors are blue, seniors are red)
Hallway Decorating will take place right after school in the commons on Thursday of that week. Be ready to decorate and make your halls look great! Windows can be painted only once they are taped off.
The Homecoming Parade starts at 5:00 on Friday, September 25th, starting in the Ella White parking lot. Students, join up with your classmates and represent AHS pride! The parade ends in the back oval right as celebrating for the football game against Flint Powers starts up. Please attend, participate, and cheer on AHS on the best day of the year!

Homeroom Update
I hope that your first week of school went well! If you are still having trouble locating your classes, there are two ways to locate your Homeroom course:
You should now see it under the AHS YR 2026-2027 tab. This is where any year long courses, like Pathways, are found.
You can also search for it or find it under the "All" tab.
You can also pin your current courses and they will all appear on the same page. To pin a course, hover over the course and click on the three dots. Select "Pin". Then the course can be found under "Pinned". This is the best way to have all courses together.
NOTE: If you pin your courses, you will need to unpin them when the course ends.

Seniors! This year, there are some very important deadlines to remember for the YEARBOOK!!
Portrait: You are responsible for submitting a Senior Portrait to the yearbook. If you do not wish to submit a portrait picture, we can use your school ID picture. If you need assistance getting senior portraits taken, please email ahsyearbook@alpenaschools.com, and we will be happy to help.
Quote: You can send in a quote to be featured with your senior portrait. This must be VERY SCHOOL APPROPRIATE.
Baby Pictures: You can send in up to THREE pictures. Each picture costs $5. PAYMENT IS DUE DECEMBER 1st. These can be pictures of you as a baby, toddler, and up through elementary school. It is also fun to submit pictures of you with your classmates!
Senior Recognition ADs: This is a place for parents to purchase space to celebrate their senior. You can include more pictures and a dedicated message. All Recognition ADs are purchased and designed through the JOSTENS website. Please purchase those before December 1st for the lowest cost.
Please do not wait until the last minute to submit to these deadlines. You can submit them at any time, and it is so helpful and appreciated by our staff to have them turned in before the deadline.

Welcome Back To AHS
A new college adviser is being welcomed this week at Alpena High School and ACES Academy, through Michigan College Access Network’s program called Advise MI. She is however a familiar face having graduated from Alpena High School. Elizabeth Kieliszewski returns to Alpena High School with experience working with students and families at Alpena Community College. Elizabeth will help students navigate the training and education process after high school. She will guide students and their families as they choose where to go next, assist with applications and help with scholarships and financial aid. “This position has a great impact on our students and families as she will help to define career pathways and assist with both processes and roadblocks along the way”, said AdviseMI Site Supervisor Lee Fitzpatrick, “We are very lucky to have someone with the talent and experience that Elizabeth Kieliszewski brings to this position.”
Alpena High School and ACES Academy have been AdviseMI partner schools for 11 years. “We are thankful for our long term relationship with Michigan College Access Network and have benefitted from both their programs and grant opportunities as a district,” said Fitzpatrick. AdviseMI places college advisers to work alongside counselors and other school staff to support students as they make the transition from high school to postsecondary education and training.

OK2SAY is the student safety program which allows students to confidentially report tips on potential harm or criminal activities directed at students, school employees, and schools. It uses a comprehensive communication system to facilitate tip sharing among students, parents, school personnel, community mental health service programs, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and law enforcement officials about harmful behaviors that threaten to disrupt the learning environment.
Student Climate Team will be trained to conduct peer mediation for students who are in conflict with one another. The goal of having peer mediation at AHS is to help create a more positive culture in our school where both sides win and one party doesn't feel as if they are being treated unfairly. Please see Mr. Robarge in Restorative Center (School Success) if you need help resolving an issue. Peer mediators don't take sides or place blame on anyone!
