EMPOWERING 21ST CENTURY GRADUATES
Congratulations on your selection, Logan!
Logan Handrich
Contributor describes Logan and his action as to what the Wildcat Way is all about. In the opening weeks of school, he saw that one of his teachers was having a difficult day/week. He took it upon himself to bring her a flowering plant as a way to help improve the classroom environment and recognizing her hard work. Citizenship- Recognize the importance of their role in our connected world... When we met to award him this honor and get his photo, he said, "Isn't this what all students should do?" Wow, we will take 100 more students like Logan as he shared exactly what all staff are wanting to see in our student body at AHS. Involvement- Willing to actively engage to make a positive difference...He is a fantastic young man and should be applauded for his efforts to make a difference. Congratulations, Logan!
Student of the Week-- Congratulations!
Veteran's Day, Thursday,
November 11th
In honoring all Veterans, AHS will be holding a service on Thursday during Advisory time. (Teachers will present to the each class.) All students will watch via Google Meet in the classroom; the Honor Guard will lead the school to the Pledge and will have a VFW Honor Guard present at the Flag Pole in the the front of the school to receive and raise the new flag that was donated by Alpena Exchange Club of Alpena that will replace the old one.
The Honor Guard will lower the old flag as taps is played by Logan DenBleyker and raise the new flag.
Our very own, Mr. Romstadt, will present to the student body following the flag raising, sharing out the importance of Veteran's Day.
Counselor Corner:
Parents: Even though parent teacher conferences have come and gone, you can still contact the teachers and/or counselor for your student. It is not too late to turn around the semester. Please check your student's grades in ParentVue (Echo for PBL classes). If there are low or failing grades, communication with the teacher(s) or counselor can help turn things around.
If you (the student) have had extenuating circumstances with your health or life situation this semester, please consider letting your counselor know. We can help refer you to outside resources or facilitate communication with your teachers. We can also help you develop a plan to get back on track with your grades, inform your teachers of the difficulties (if desired), help you find a tutor, or just listen to your concerns without judgement. Know that you have a support system at Alpena High School!

So, let’s stand up for student safety. Remember: it’s OK2SAY.
A Culture of Silence
In the majority of violent incidents that occur in our schools, someone other than the perpetrator of violence knows of a threat before it’s carried out but fails to report it. Often, students choose to keep quiet because they fear retaliation, rejection, or stigmatization by their peers. The result is a culture of silence in which students suffer harm that could have been prevented if another had chosen to speak out.
So, let’s stand up for student safety. Remember: it’s OK2SAY.
