This crew is always respectful in the commons during online classes. When they noticed custodians prepping the commons for the holiday craft show, they rolled up their sleeves, grabbed some brooms, and helped clean up. Thank you for helping to make AHS a great place.

Elsa is a constant source of positivity in the classroom. She is generally enthusiastic about any lesson - or at least curious and willing to try new media. Robyn Miller will present information to interested students/families of Juniors and Seniors specifically, however any grade is welcome to attend. MCAN Rep Jenny Taratuta will also be in attendance to help answer any questions as well as a member of Community Foundation to discuss scholarship opportutnities. Join us in the main commons of Alpena High School.
GRADES: You still have some time to get your grades up before the end of the semester which ends on January 20 (Jan 13 for online classes). Now is a good time to talk to your teachers about what you can do over the holiday break to improve your grade(s). Find out what assignments you can still do for credit so that you don't end up needing to repeat a class.
Know anyone that deserves a special message in our building? It could be a student, teacher, counselor, cook, custodian, SRO, admin, instructional assistant, office assistant.....ANYONE!
Use this link to send them a message that will be displayed on the TVs around AHS. The message is anonymous, but please include their name to help brighten their day and spread a little kindness.
Be sure to read them, you never know when your name might pop up!
We need your input ~ let's name the new Media Center at AHS
We will be doing a soft opening starting on Monday. The AAACU Wildcat Branch will be open for business. Mrs. Samp is working to organize the Media portion and will be continuing to do Chromebook work out of the new space. Be patient as she is working to get it set up and move out of the mini commons.
~ There will be no food in the new area ~ lunch must be eaten in the commons and hallway tables, so you are welcome to do school work, online classes (keep your orange card visible with your information), visit with friends, and just relax ~ it is your area and you need to be respectful of the new furniture and space.
Please help Mrs. Samp in setting Wildcat Way tone as you enjoy the space.
Do see yourself as a Student Leader? Would you be interested in sitting on a Student Council?
Please contact Mr. Bourdage bourdager@alpenaschools.com or Mr. Thatcher Thatcherc@alpenaschools.com to find out more information.

After School Tutoring!
We are continuing to offer tutoring assistance after school for all AHS students! This will be staffed by AHS teachers and assistance can be provided in any subject. Tutoring sessions will be held in the Large Commons (Media Center is under construction) from 2:45 to 3:45pm every Monday and Wednesday that students have a full-day. Specific information for each week will be posted in student announcements. Students do not need to sign up in advance and students are responsible for their own transportation. Please contact Mr. Pattison @ (pattisonj@alpenaschools.com) if you have any questions.
OK2SAY is the student safety program which allows students to confidentially report tips on potential harm or criminal activities directed at students, school employees, and schools. It uses a comprehensive communication system to facilitate tip sharing among students, parents, school personnel, community mental health service programs, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and law enforcement officials about harmful behaviors that threaten to disrupt the learning environment.
PEER MEDIATION
AHS now has trained student peer mediators to help solve conflicts between students! If you are in conflict with another student, please see me in Room E110 or you can e-mail me at robargeb@alpenaschools.com Remember, peer mediators are trained not to take sides or place blame on anyone. Since October (when the mediators were trained), they have conducted 10 mediations with students, and the outcomes have been successful!
Thank you Devon and Maddi for being great Mediators!
