EMPOWERING 21ST CENTURY GRADUATES
Four Great Senior ~ You know who you are!
Contributor: Citizenship- Recognize the importance of their role in our connected world; Involvement- Willing to actively engage to make a positive difference; Community Oriented- Able to balance self-interest with the needs of society.
I reached out to these seniors to help me produce the Student Announcements and the TV slide show that also advertise all the great happenings at AHS. I sent out the request to about six of our top students and everyone of them emailed me back within 15 minutes that they would gladly assist me. It is a busy and never ending task and really shares student voice at AHS. I am so proud of all students and the culture that we are building where students are willing to volunteer and be willing to be part of a bigger cause while giving back! I am one proud and lucky Principal. Thanks Announcement team as you work behind the scenes anonymously to make a difference in your school community.

Review With Your Students
Dress Code ~ Parents, We Need Your Help!
The letter attached was the message that we have used for a few years to help when we start school and in the spring as the weather gets warm again.
Admin found great support in reaching out to parents focusing on personal perspective "as to what they believe to be acceptable dress in school."
As we started out with warm weather and this past week was extremely warm, it is a great opportunity to discuss the letter and dress code with your student. Please take time this weekend to review our letter and determine what you see as "appropriate for school" and what you can do to help support the "dress that is geared toward what students should wear in the workforce."
We do have clothing that students can access in the AHS Clothing Closet located in E House; students are sent there when necessary. In no way do we want any student to feel humiliated or uncomfortable; students are also welcome to call home for a change of clothes.
Principals/Dean will be calling home when necessary and hope to find support at home. We look forward to teaming up to make the school dress code a collaborative effort.
Chromebook Insurance Update
Starting in the 2024-25 school year, APS now offers Chromebook Accidental Damage Insurance on an annual basis. It will run yearly from time of purchase until June 30th of the school year.
Open enrollment for Chromebook insurance is from July 1st to September 30th each school year. After the open enrollment period, insurance purchases may require a device inspection before protection starts.
If you had 'legacy insurance' (which is any Chromebook insurance purchased before July 1st, 2024) and have used both of the legacy insurance 'claims' - you have no current protection. This is a perfect opportunity for you to start protecting your student's device again. We will honor all remaining claims on legacy insurance.
Please see the attached PDF to read more about the insurance policy.

It uses a comprehensive communication system to facilitate tip sharing among students, parents, school personnel, community mental health service programs, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and law enforcement officials about harmful behaviors that threaten to disrupt the learning environment.
