EMPOWERING 21ST CENTURY GRADUATES
Congratulations on your selection, Grace Johnson and Madison Linton...
Creative: Appreciative - Value and celebrate creativity in all forms; Innovative- Connect existing and original ideas and methods to novel conditions; Resourceful - Able to identify and apply all available tools to tackle challenges.
I want to personally thank both students for their work on the Student and TV Announcements. Grace has led the charge on both since the start of the year, and I asked Maddie to start helping me this week with deleting old slides and adding current sporting events ~ she stepped up immediately to help us. The task is time-consuming and truly one that helps everyone at AHS. You both are great at helping to shape the culture at AHS by making sure that all students get pertinent student information in a timely fashion ~ you are STUDENT LEADERS! Thank you both, as announcements are no small task.

Our goal for every student at AHS is not to just earn their High School Diploma, but to also leave here with a Plus One. So what is a Plus One? A Plus One is something students have earned or experienced that will help them achieve their college and/or career goals. A Plus One could be CTE certification, Dual Enrollment credits, military enlistment, work experiences, apprenticeships, college acceptance or possibly even an Associates Degree. To help guide students in earning their Plus One we will be using Xello, an engaging and powerful Career and College Readiness program. During November, students will have the opportunity to review and update their Xello profiles in Advisory. Students will have the opportunity to win Campus Closet gift cards throughout the month for completing lessons, and will be entered to win some exciting prizes (shown on the left) if they share with us their Plus One goals. We encourage you to talk with your student(s) about their Xello profile and what their "Plus One" might be. Students can easily access their Xello profile from their Advisory Brightspace course. Over the next few weekly updates, we will be sharing more information about Xello and how it can be used to support and guide students in achieving their college and career goals.

It is the student's responsibility to communicate the conflict to the attendance office; we appreciate your help with this as it is only Dual Enrollment and Early College students that have issues because of the time change with the schedule ~ thank you for your understanding.

OK2SAY is the student safety program which allows students to confidentially report tips on potential harm or criminal activities directed at students, school employees, and schools. It uses a comprehensive communication system to facilitate tip sharing among students, parents, school personnel, community mental health service programs, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and law enforcement officials about harmful behaviors that threaten to disrupt the learning environment.
