GRADES: You still have some time to get your grades up before the end of the semester which ends on January 19th (Jan 12th for online classes). Now is a good time to talk to your teachers about what you can do over the holiday break to improve your grade(s). Find out what assignments you can still do for credit so that you don't end up needing to repeat a class.
FUN FACT: Did you know that exercise causes your brain to release 'feel good' chemicals like endorphins and serotonin that help improve your mood? Doing physical activity can also distract you from negative thought patterns. Get some exercise this week!
Congratulations on your selections to you both...

If you could make the world a better place by changing one thing, what would
it be and why?
To change the world's lack of respect. Everyone needs to be more respectful.
Local hero or mentor:
Elizabeth Jacques, because she guided me in the right direction and made me a better student. She also got me into woodworking. She’s just a great person.
Best part of living in N.E. Michigan:
Everyone knows each other and I love the small community.
Thank you Leadership Team for all you do to celebrate students, the community, and just making AHS the BEST SCHOOL ever!
The Alpena High School Leadership has a group of students working on food baskets to help provide food for those in need during the holidays. The Leadership Food Basket Group made a food run to Walmart last week to purchase non- perishable food needed to make the food baskets. They were able to purchase goods due to support from local businesses: Real Estate One, Alpena Buick, Chee Peng, LUCK apparel, Larry’s Auto Collision, Wolverine State Credit Union, Northeastern Window & Door, and Cliff Anschuetz Chevrolet.
Historical figures from the Baroque Period (1600 - 1750) discussed various topics at a Salon (meeting house for historians, philosophers and composers), hosted by Mr. Skiba in AP European History.

OK2SAY is the student safety program which allows students to confidentially report tips on potential harm or criminal activities directed at students, school employees, and schools. It uses a comprehensive communication system to facilitate tip sharing among students, parents, school personnel, community mental health service programs, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and law enforcement officials about harmful behaviors that threaten to disrupt the learning environment.
PEER MEDIATION
AHS now has trained student peer mediators to help solve conflicts between students! If you are in conflict with another student, please see me in Room E110 or you can e-mail me at robargeb@alpenaschools.com Remember, peer mediators are trained not to take sides or place blame on anyone.
