Taryn has been an integral part in developing a student council. She was also in charge of the Winterfest King and Queen group. She jumps in where needed and truly makes AHS a better place for students.
COUNSELING CORNER:
Due to the Snow Day on Friday, the deadline for schedule requests has been extended to this Tuesday (2/21). If students do not have a completed scheduling worksheet and/or course requests entered into Synergy by this date, courses will be selected for them.

Athletics Corner:
Spring Sports will begin March, 13, 2023. All students must have a physical on file and be registered in final forms in order to tryout.
Girl's tennis will have tryouts Monday, March 13- Thursday, March 16 from 3-5 pm at the APLEX. No experience is required.
You must have a physical on file to attend tryouts.

We cannot thank our Advise Michigan - APS College Advisor, Mrs. Taratutu for all she does for our Seniors. Here is an example of her effort for Valentine's Day ~ Sweet Scholarships Valentine's Day. She is extraordinary and we are lucky to have her on staff.

After School Tutoring!
We are continuing to offer tutoring assistance after school for all AHS students! This will be staffed by AHS teachers and assistance can be provided in any subject. Tutoring sessions will be held in the Wildcat Den (former Media Center) from 2:45 to 3:45pm every Monday and Wednesday that students have a full-day. Specific information for each week will be posted in student announcements. Students do not need to sign up in advance and students are responsible for their own transportation. HOW TO REPORT THREATS/CONCERNS
OK2SAY is the student safety program which allows students to confidentially report tips on potential harm or criminal activities directed at students, school employees, and schools. It uses a comprehensive communication system to facilitate tip sharing among students, parents, school personnel, community mental health service programs, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and law enforcement officials about harmful behaviors that threaten to disrupt the learning environment.
PEER MEDIATION
AHS now has trained student peer mediators to help solve conflicts between students! If you are in conflict with another student, please see me in Room E110 or you can e-mail me at robargeb@alpenaschools.com Remember, peer mediators are trained not to take sides or place blame on anyone.
