Counseling Corner
*Are you child's grades slipping? Are there many missing assignments in Grade Book? Here are some suggestions for your child:
-Review the list of missing assignments and ask your teacher(s) which ones can still be turned in, even for partial credit.
-Go through your bag, room, etc. and find any work you started or have finished. Complete it and turn it in.
-In every subject, but math, complete the larger point assignments first. Turn them in.
-In math, start with the oldest assignment and complete what you can and turn them in.
-In any class where tests/quizzes can be redone, talk to your teacher about retaking those.
**Set a goal to have all work made up and grade up to a "C" by Christmas break.** When this goal is reached, find some way to safely celebrate your child for their hard work.**
Take some time over Thanksgiving break to get some of your missing assignments completed but also take some time to rest and rejuvenate.

OK2SAY is the student safety program which allows students to confidentially report tips on potential harm or criminal activities directed at students, school employees, and schools. It uses a comprehensive communication system to facilitate tip sharing among students, parents, school personnel, community mental health service programs, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and law enforcement officials about harmful behaviors that threaten to disrupt the learning environment.
PEER MEDIATION
AHS now has trained student peer mediators to help solve conflicts between students! If you are in conflict with another student, please see me in Room E110 or you can e-mail me at robargeb@alpenaschools.com Remember, peer mediators are trained not to take sides or place blame on anyone.
