EMPOWERING 21ST CENTURY GRADUATES
Confident: Self Aware- Able to identify their own strengths and weaknesses; Growth Mindset- Embrace their ability to grow through dedication and hard work; Grit- Willing to expend sustained effort to complete a task with excellence.
This week's Wildcat Way is Miranda Zinke! Miranda is a pleasure to have in class. She is a very positive student who always has a smile on her face and can make those around her feel better about themselves. She has the perfect "mix" that every teacher wants in a student; she will carry on a polite and quiet conversation with peers, but when it is time to learn she is engaged and asking questions. Miranda takes immense pride in having zero missing assignments, and is working very hard for straight A's in all of her classes. Overall, Miranda is a quiet leader who does so by example. Everything mentioned above about her, she does naturally and without wanting acknowledgment. It is truly a pleasure to have Miranda in class!
Counseling
Students ~ Anticipating to graduate early at the end of semester 1?
Students who will have successfully completed graduation requirements after seven (7) semesters may petition to graduate by Thanksgiving of that school year. The discussion on graduating early should be done with the student’s Guidance Counselor during the senior meeting and/or during a junior appointment in the spring of the junior year. Early graduates must take full responsibility to make arrangements with the high school office for anything pertaining to the graduation ceremony (i.e., announcements, cap and gown, graduation rehearsal). Students who graduate early and participate in the commencement ceremony have the opportunity to participate in Senior Experience Day and the Senior Celebration.
DUAL ENROLLMENT: If you have not scheduled an appointment with your counselor yet for semester 2 dual enrollment classes..... you need to ASAP. ACC classes are filling up!
Fall/Winter Testing Out
If you wish to test out of a course please submit the Testing Out Request form to E-house office by Tuesday November 29th. All tests will be administered December 4th at 2:45pm at AHS. If you request to test out of a course you will receive confirmation and additional details via email. If you have after school activities scheduled for this time you will have to plan accordingly in advance. Please refer to the Testing Out Request form for additional information or you can contact Mr. Buchinger.
If you are not in the woods on 11/15, consider the following:

AHS Upcoming Events
Veterans Day Assembly November 11th, 2nd Hour
~ Planned by AHS Student Council, thank you for doing this event to honor veterans
~ It will take place during 2nd hour for 25 minutes; students will be released by house via the PA. You will sit with your 2nd class and will start seating in gym 4 closest to the pool and then move to gym 1 when it is paritally full. Admin will help direct and guide classes.
~ Report to 2nd hour for attendance and wait to be released.
We celebrate Veterans Day to honor all U.S. military veterans for their service, sacrifice, and contributions to the country:
Veterans Day originated in 1919 as Armistice Day to commemorate the end of World War I, which was marked by the signing of the armistice on November 11, 1918.
In 1954, the name was changed to Veterans Day to honor all veterans, including those who served in peacetime.
Veterans Day is a day to thank living veterans for their service and acknowledge their contributions to national security.
Veterans Day is a time to reflect on the challenges veterans face, such as health care and employment.
Reminder to AHS Families
AHS is on a semester report card system and DOES NOT issue quarter grades and report cards like TBJH ~ Report cards will be available about one week after the end of the semester January 17th
Final Exams will be held on the last three days of the semester (Final Exam Schedule TBA), and teachers will review class expectations with all students
There is a final exam/project/culminating experience, etc. in every class at AHS
Parents had the opportunity to seek out teachers at conferences two weeks ago, and I hope the experience was worthwhile and meaningful
You are always welcome to email any staff member and/or set up an appointment if necessary; you may be hearing from teachers via phone/email this week as Progress Reports will be issued on Tuesday which is a great opportunity to review all this information with your student(s)
You can always follow up via ParentVue to see current grades
I hope the clarification helps with any confusion for parents that have students in both buildings
If you have not already done so, AHS would like you to complete the parent survey to help make us better. It closes November 18th ~ we appreciate and welcome your feedback.
Remember ~ No School on Friday ~ Fall Family Day

OK2SAY is the student safety program which allows students to confidentially report tips on potential harm or criminal activities directed at students, school employees, and schools. It uses a comprehensive communication system to facilitate tip sharing among students, parents, school personnel, community mental health service programs, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and law enforcement officials about harmful behaviors that threaten to disrupt the learning environment.
Student Climate Team will be trained to conduct peer mediation for students who are in conflict with one another. The goal of having peer mediation at AHS is to help create a more positive culture in our school where both sides win and one party doesn't feel as if they are being treated unfairly. Please see Mr. Robarge in E110 (School Success) if you need help resolving an issue. Peer mediators don't take sides or place blame on anyone!
