SENIORS- Important Time Sensitive Meeting
Hope you had a wonderful spring break! Savor each day until the end of the year, as it will go by so quickly.
Do everything you can do to make this meeting with your Early College and Dual Enrollment classes. I will post the information on FB and email to you all.
Your Senior Meeting with Jostens will take place next Wednesday, April 5th, at 12:30 p.m. in the auditorium. It's VERY important that you be there! We know your schedules are hectic, but please do your best to be present. Mr. Bourdage will deliver some important information and you will receive your cap and gown and any graduation items you may have ordered at that time.
If you are unable to attend the meeting, all orders will be in the Main Office (after the meeting) for you to pick up at another time.

Counselor Corner:
It is Dual Enrollment Time! If you are planning on taking any ACC classes first semester of next year through the Dual Enrollment Program, it is time to get the paperwork going. You should make an appointment with your counselor soon to select your class(es) and get the paperwork completed. Classes at ACC fill quickly so do not delay. (We schedule ACC semester 2 classes in November).
Credit Recovery Options:
The Registrar placed credit recovery letters for 9th-11th grade advisory students in teachers' mailboxes on Tuesday. These letters are for students who may be deficient in Math or ELA credits and this letter explains how credit can be recovered based on scores.
If you have any questions regarding the letter(s), please connect with your student's counselor.
NEMYAC~ Northeast Michigan Youth Advisory Council
YACs are groups of young philanthropists-in-training who are connected to their community through grantmaking.
1. Young people learn the impact giving has for their fellow youth and for the betterment of their own community.
2. Local nonprofits receive much-needed funding for important youth-related projects that would not be likely to occur without these grants.

Youth Advisory Councils: Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan
The NEMYAC Mental Health Committee is a subcommittee of the Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan Youth Advisory Council working on advocating for mental health and bringing awareness to events that are happening in our local community. Each month, we plan on having a project to highlight and bring awareness to different topics surrounding mental health. Stay tuned for more!

When you call your student in to leave school before 2:30 pm for an appointment, the pass is sent as a Calendar Invite through Google Calendar to the student; please show the Google Invite to your teacher to be excused.
Secure Mode on Friday ~ A huge thank you to the staff, students, Central Office Administration, and local enforcement agencies for their attention to the events on Friday. Your attention to the seriousness and following all the protocols was outstanding. We practice our drills to ensure that we do them correctly when an event happens ~ today was a prime example of this practice. It is why we do what we do!

Student Parking ~ Get your parking pass if you don't have one in the Main Office
There is no cost
It helps identify vehicles in the event there is a need
Please park in student parking, do NOT use pool parking or the ends beyond the lines. We need to keep those clear for traffic to pass.
No student parking in the Teacher lot by F House, the Teacher/visitor parking lot by the Green House, back oval by the gym, ACES Parking, or along the Construction Tech building.

BE PREPARED DAILY
Bring your chromebook and charger to school every day so you are prepared for class. If you have lost or damaged your charger see Mrs. Samp to replace it.

Robotics Needs You!
Are You Able to Help?
After another strong season, Alpena High School FIRST Robotics Team 5505 is hoping to reach the FIRST Robotics World Championships held in Houston, Texas. They will participate in the District Qualifying Matches this weekend in Standish. The next steps would be the State Championships in a few weeks at Saginaw Valley State University (April 6-8th). They have qualified 5 out of 6 years for the FIRST Robotics World Championships and hope to replicate that success. World Championships are in Houston, April 19th to 23rd. Team 5505 is trying to build a war chest to be prepared for the very quick transition from State competition to the World Championships.
The entrance fees for FIRST Robotics State Competition and World Championships are $10,000. Food, travel and lodging costs for 20 people is about $30,000 more. If you would like to support Team 5505 as they represent Alpena in the upcoming competitions you can donate here. Donors can also stop into the Main Office at Alpena High School and make a donation directly to the AHS Bookkeeper, Mrs. Barb Porrett. She will issue you a receipt for your records.

Art in the Loft is hosting its annual Young Artist Exhibit from April 6th - May 6th.
The gallery will be open Tuesday - Saturday from 10 AM - 5 PM.

OK2SAY is the student safety program which allows students to confidentially report tips on potential harm or criminal activities directed at students, school employees, and schools. It uses a comprehensive communication system to facilitate tip sharing among students, parents, school personnel, community mental health service programs, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and law enforcement officials about harmful behaviors that threaten to disrupt the learning environment.
PEER MEDIATION
AHS now has trained student peer mediators to help solve conflicts between students! If you are in conflict with another student, please see me in Room E110 or you can e-mail me at robargeb@alpenaschools.com Remember, peer mediators are trained not to take sides or place blame on anyone.
