EMPOWERING 21ST CENTURY GRADUATES
the wildcat way...
Congratulations to AHS Staff Members:
October: Laurie Lemont
November: Tom Stoppa
Laurie Lemont was chosen for being Culturally Minded which is not necessarily linked directly to her teaching German (haha), but she embraces the three characteristics in many ways: Globally Aware, Compassionate, and Embrace Diversity. Laurie is a student centered instructor who is deeply connected to her clientele and truly knows her students. She is one of the most compassionate teachers on staff and one that values the relationships with her students. It is exciting to watch her weave her craft daily with students and leave no one behind. She is truly a genuinely kind person that is respected by all. She is the Wildcat Way!
Tom Stoppa was chosen for being Collaborative and truly embodies the traits: Team Player, Communicator, and Resourceful. Tom has been a top notch educator for years spreading his love for history in all of his classes, on class trips abroad, and recently becoming the Union President for the AEA. Tom has taken the time to build bridges with administration and work to build relationships that will help to make APS better overall. He is taking weekly meetings with all major players and being a sounding board for his team and administration which will lead to more success for our students. Tom is making great strides to hear the teachers just like he does his students and is attempting to find resolutions to make things better for all. He does the same in the classroom by making all lessons interesting and purposeful. He challenges students to think at a higher level and is open to all suggestions. Tom builds relationships with his students and is not afraid to take risks in challenging everyone to be the best that they can be. Kids like to learn and know that in his room they are sure to walk away with true understanding. He is doing great things this year on both fronts, and we all applaud him for his dedication and hard work. The staff and students find him approachable and willing to listen always.

CULTURE IS IMPORTANT AT AHS
IT IS EVERYONE'S RESPONSIBILITY
Passes & Possible Skipping
Media Center & Commons
Within building houses, we are expecting personal responsibility for students and passes are not required. Students, it is vital that you respect the property at AHS and report any vandalism. It does not benefit anyone to stay quiet and watch as others destroy school property. As we have said repeatedly, "It is YOUR building and YOU have to ensure that everyone respects it." I know that "together," we can make a difference.
If a student is traveling outside the house, he/she needs to have a digital pass or written hall pass. A student should not use a house bathroom in E if your class is in F; all bathrooms are open. We need you in class to learn and traveling to other bathrooms is not the best choice. This should be done during passing periods.
PARENTS - remember you can have digital passes for your students in advance for picking them up for appointments. You can make these arrangements through ParentVue and/or call attendance to walk you through the process. It is quick, easy, and efficient. It also negates you from having to park and come into the building.
We have many students in the Commons and Media Center working online, in Dual Enrollment and Early College, etc. Administration, Security, and Mrs. Samp are going to begin checking schedules randomly to ensure students are not skipping; please respect adults as they ask you to see your schedule and make good choices.
Locker rooms are off limits to students throughout the day unless the student has a PE class. After school locker room access for athletes must be supervised by a coach.
