This week's Wildcat Way is Sophie Kindt! Sophie is a hard working student who demonstrates Wildcat Way behaviors through Confidence. Sophie is a wonderful leader to her peers as she is always in pursuit of excellence. She is always setting herself up for positive growth through structure and discipline. Her hard work and grit allows her to achieve the goals she sets up for herself. Sophie's effort and determination allows her to push past barriers others would deem to be too difficult. Sophie is a great representative for the Wildcat Way.

Parents and Guardians,
On March 9th, 2026 all 9th and 11th graders will participate in the MiPHY survey at AHS. This is an anonymous and valuable survey that helps us gauge the health our our youth in ours and surrounding districts. This survey is given every other year and the information is used to help us plan and deliver supports to all of our students.
Please view the notification form for more information, a list of frequently asked questions, or to opt your student out of the survey.

💰💰 Attention Seniors! Great job on getting started on your scholarship applications! Deadlines are coming up quickly. Earlier this week, Ms R shared a link with you to a Master Scholarship Listing. If you missed it, you can access it here:
Make a copy for yourself that you can edit and sort however you want! This is a one click where you can find everything rather than flipping page by page through the slideshow. It will eventually be added to the website. It is being updated often, so be sure to go back and check occasionally.
Take advantage of the generosity of our community. Some of the scholarships may be small, but every dollar helps. Don't turn down a chance at free help with college expenses! Scholarships are available for just about every type of program you are interested in after high school. 💰💰

Hello!
We’re excited to partner with CTE, DECA, FCCLA, FFA, and HOSA on this special fundraising opportunity.
I’ve attached marketing materials that you’re welcome to share on your club social media pages and with students so they can help spread the word as well. Included are:
A flyer (with and without a QR code)
Facebook and Instagram graphics
A quarter-page handout students can distribute
Our goal is to open as many new accounts as possible and raise meaningful funds to support these programs and the students who may need additional financial resources.
Karen LaFleche and I will be at the CTE Expo tonight to open accounts and answer any questions.
Student Incentives
In addition to AAACU donating $25 per qualifying account to CTE or the designated student organization, students who open an account will also receive a personal incentive through our tiered rewards program:
Ages 0–13: $50 incentive
Ages 14–17: $100 incentive
Ages 18+: $250 deposited into a 7-month CD at 6%
Accounts can be opened:
At the Wildcat Branch (open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during lunch hours)
Online using the QR code on the flyer
At any AAACU office location
Students simply need to mention CTE or their club (DECA, FCCLA, FFA, or HOSA) so we can properly track donations.
This promotion will run for two weeks, with the potential to extend it.

PSAT/SAT Test Prep
Testing Update
Dear AHS Parents and Guardians,
As the State of Michigan testing season approaches, Alpena High School is preparing for the administration of the Michigan Merit Exam (MME), PSAT, and related assessments. These tests provide valuable information about student progress, college readiness, and help fulfill AHS, state and federal assessment requirements.
All students will attend school on testing days. Students who are testing will report to their assigned testing locations in the gym, while students who are not testing will follow their regular school schedule in classrooms.
Spring 2026 State Testing Schedule:
April 9, 2026 – WIN Testing (Grade 11)
April 14, 2026 – PSAT 9 (Grade 9)
April 15, 2026 – SAT – (Grade 11)
April 16, 2026 – PSAT 10 (Grade 10)
April 22, 2026 – M-STEP – (Grade 11)
Students must bring their fully charged, school-issued Chromebook and charger on their scheduled testing day. These assessments are fully digital, and students will not be able to test without a fully charged school issued device.
AHS staff has been supporting students with test preparation throughout the school year, including classroom preparation and optional test prep opportunities. These experiences help students become familiar with the digital testing format and build confidence prior to testing. These assessments are an important part of each student’s academic experience and help inform instructional decisions, graduation requirements, and postsecondary planning.
Additional reminders and specific student testing locations will be shared closer to each testing date. Please check your email.

OK2SAY is the student safety program which allows students to confidentially report tips on potential harm or criminal activities directed at students, school employees, and schools. It uses a comprehensive communication system to facilitate tip sharing among students, parents, school personnel, community mental health service programs, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and law enforcement officials about harmful behaviors that threaten to disrupt the learning environment.
The Student Climate Team has been trained to conduct peer mediation for students who are in conflict with one another. The goal of having peer mediation at AHS is to help create a more positive culture in our school where both sides win and one party doesn't feel as if they are being treated unfairly. Please see Mr. Robarge in the Restorative Center (School Success) if you need help resolving an issue. Peer mediators don't take sides or place blame on anyone!

If so, we invite you to participate in our "ASK APS" initiative. This is your chance to ask the questions that matter to you. Each month, we’ll select questions that are intriguing, timely, or widely relevant to answer in the Superintendent's Update, Central Office communications, school newsletters, or even at Board meetings.
While we may not be able to address every question, we’re committed to answering as many as we can.
