Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! Over the weekend, classes have continued to be balanced to ensure that students are put in the best scenario for learning.  If a class change is being requested, please come down to E-House Office to discuss your schedule. Requests to change schedules back to what you may have originally had will be denied as changes were made to balance classes. You should be coming down to E-House Office at the beginning of the hour that is either open or the hour you wish to change.  

ACC Classes must be dropped by September 11th to get a full refund.

⚠️⚠️Online Students⚠️⚠️

Students with an online class will see their requested Subject or Accelerate course in Synergy. You will also see the instructor's name for that course. All students taking an Online course are to report to D-203 for the class period in which an online class takes place. Similar to all other AHS classes, the cell phone and personal communication device policy is in place and expected to be followed.

Unique Situations: We know this new process will create unique scheduling scenarios, and we will work through them as they arise. If you have any questions or concerns about how Homeroom impacts your student's specific schedule, please reach out to an Administrator and/or the online teacher so we can help!  

One Entry and Exit for Every Student Throughout the Day

• The entry points in the morning will be: The Large Commons entry between D and E, Student Secure Entry (Attendance Office), and the doors at the entry under the Wildcat.  The areas are all supervised by AHS Staff until the doors are secured by custodian staff quickly after the first bell.

Special Program Entry:

• Dual Enrollment and Early College students must also use the Student Secure Entry, the Attendance Office when ARRIVING and EXITING throughout the day and check in and out with the Kiosk System.

Important Reminders:

• Students may not use any other exit to leave the building other than the Student Secure Entry/Attendance Office for Early College, Dual Enrollment, appointments, leaving ill, etc.

  • This is a routine change for many students and will be reinforced the first two weeks of the school year.  It is imperative that we keep accurate records for students coming and going from campus on a daily basis.  We have also added this to our building initiative with improving our student attendance rates by critically analyzing our data for students coming and going throughout the day.  

• Students are not permitted to open any other exterior doors for others. All entrances are monitored by video, and violations will be addressed.

• Students should exit only through the Student Secure Entry, the Attendance Office when leaving during the school day and checking out with the provided Kiosks. 

At AHS, school safety is a top priority—and we thank you for helping us maintain a secure environment every day.

These signs have been added to help direct students to the Student Secure Entry/Attendance Office.  The first week of school, there will be school personell present at commonly used exits to direct students.

What does morning and after school pick up look like for Back Oval? 

• You must follow the arrows all the way around turning right after the roundabout; there are cones that should prevent drivers from turning left.  

• The first few days, we will have a person at two location on this route guiding parents.  As you leave, you will see that there are three lanes with only left and right turns to exit: 1. turn turn left towards Ontario; 2. is a right on Garden; 3. is the entry lane for parents coming in to the dropoff/pick up zone.  There is no straight lane to 5th street. 

• After school, parents may use Garden St. on the west side only of the street.  Any cars on the east side before the front oval entrance will cause issues with the buses coming off Third Ave turning into the school front oval loop.

Our Homeroom program is built on three core pillars designed to support your child’s growth and strengthen the connection between home and school.

For students, Homeroom provides a dedicated, structured space for regular academic monitoring through StudentVue check-ins, opportunities for test retakes and reassessments, and additional academic support to help prevent course failures. Beyond academics, Homeroom champions "whole child" development by offering pre-planned, student-centered activities and a consistent adult mentor to ensure every student feels connected, valued, and supported.

For parents and families, Homeroom serves as your primary liaison and first point of contact for school communications and general school inquiries. For specific grade/course concerns, contact that specific teacher. To keep you actively involved and fully informed, we initiate connections with introductory emails and phone calls, send home scheduled progress reports accompanied by parent robocall reminders, and guarantee direct teacher outreach if your student is facing academic challenges. This integrated approach ensures that Homeroom is not an extra stop or chore, but a powerful, collaborative partnership working to guide your student toward success.

Students received an email on Friday to clarify Homeroom if their college classes are during 2nd hour which is Homeroom.  Please share the emails with your parents and review what you need to do or reach out for clarification.  The Early College Homeroom (Mrs. Pilarski & Mrs. Nugent in B-110) -- Dual Enrollment Homeroom (Ms. Dec & Mr. Andrews D-202) will send the information to students missing due to this scenario, check in that they are reviewing Culture Lessons from the Brightspace, connect with them, and be the go-to contact in the event there are questions or concerns.  If they enter the building before 3rd hour -- with more than 10-15 minutes remaining in Homeroom, they must report to the Homeroom or stay in the commons (anyone arriving with online 1st & 2nd hours will be expected to do the same as the Early College and Dual Enrollment). Remember, there will be hiccups like this that we have to work through and each will take time to make a plan.

Dress Code ~ Parents, We Need Your Help!

• The letter attached was the message that we have used for a few years to help when we start school and in the spring as the weather gets warm again.

• Admin found great support in reaching out to parents focusing on personal perspective "as to what they believe to be acceptable dress in school."

• As we start the school year out, it is a great opportunity to discuss the letter and dress code with your student.  Please take time this weekend to review our letter and determine what you see as "appropriate for school" and what you can do to help support the "dress that is geared toward what students should wear in the workforce."

• In no way do we want any student to feel humiliated or uncomfortable; students are also welcome to call home for a change of clothes.

• Principals/Dean will be calling home when necessary and hope to find support at home.  We look forward to teaming up to make the school dress code a collaborative effort.

Non-school related personal deliveries for students from commercial businesses such as flower shops, fast food, and bakeries are strongly discouraged. All such deliveries are kept at the Main Office and not given to the student until the conclusion of the school day.
