Dear Class of 2026,
As I type this (late Thursday night), we are officially celebrating your very last week as high school students! I know our entire Admin Team enjoyed seeing you take in your final moments celebrating as a great class the night before your final day as a Wildcat. I am so incredibly proud of the way you have pushed through and finished this year strong. It has been an absolute privilege to be on this journey with you, watching you grow, learn, and lead our school.
We have so many fantastic activities planned for you this week to cap off your senior year. I want to encourage you to soak it all in, enjoy these final moments with your peers, and celebrate your hard work. Of course, the culmination of all this effort is right around the corner—I am already looking forward to graduation day Sunday. It is going to be an outstanding ceremony and a beautiful milestone for you and your families; I look forward to greeting everyone of you as you face the stands at Park Family Field at Wildcat Stadium.
As you prepare to cross that stage and step into your next chapter, I am so excited to see all the amazing things you will accomplish in the years ahead. You have so much potential, and I know you will make a positive mark on the world.
No matter where life takes you, never forget your roots and the community cheering you on. Remember: Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat.
Have a wonderful final week, and I will see you at all the events we have this week and the graduation stage! I could not be more proud to be your Principal!

Seniors, You received this via email Friday-- READ IT
Happy last day, seniors!
Just a few things before you leave...
Please continue to check your email next week. Your required Senior Survey will be sent on Wednesday, June 3rd. Remember - this is a graduation requirement and must be completed before you are able to walk on graduation day. We ask that you be honest with your feedback, as that's how we learn and grow. Please note: If you are a current Early College student (12th year) - please DO NOT complete the survey, as Mrs. Nugent will have a survey for you to complete next year.
Don't forget to make your lunch choice for next Friday in the Google Survey!
Check to see that you have your entire cap and gown unit for graduation. You will need your gown, cap, tassel and stole. Honor cords will be distributed on Senior Experience Day if you have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 or higher.
The agenda for Senior Experience Day was sent earlier this morning. It's incredibly important that you attend and don't forget to wear RED!! It's a jam packed and super fun day!

A Note on Dress Code: Partnering for a Positive School Day
Parents and Guardians, I want to take a moment to ask for your partnership on a topic that requires our teamwork: our school dress code.
We completely understand that clothing styles change rapidly from year to year, and keeping up with current trends can be a challenge! However, our goal is to maintain a distraction-free, comfortable learning environment for everyone. Recently, we’ve had to have quite a few individual meetings regarding dress code, which we know can cause unnecessary stress for students and pull our focus away from where it belongs—on learning.
Because we want to respect our students, we handle dress code conversations privately and individually. The challenge with this approach is that we cannot always spot every single issue immediately. This sometimes leads to frustration and the familiar question of, "Well, what about so-and-so?" Please know our goal is always fairness, but policing outfits one-by-one is difficult to manage and puts our staff in a tough spot.
This is where we truly need your help. At the end of the day, success with this starts at home before our students arrive on campus. We are asking you to please do a quick check of your student's outfit before they walk out the door in the morning to ensure it aligns with our school guidelines which have been repeatedly been put in the Weekly.
I deeply appreciate your continued support and collaboration on this matter. By working together, we can keep the focus on academics, keep our students stress-free, and make our school days run smoothly.

Final Exam Update
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the end of the semester and have the last day of school determined, we want to share our upcoming Final Exam Schedule and attendance expectations to ensure a smooth finish to the school year for all students. Thank you for your grace as we determine a good plan for all.

Friday, June 12th: Exams for Hours 5 & 6 (Half day for students)
Monday, June 15th: Regular attendance (Hours 1-6) and locker cleanouts (Half day for students)
Exam Attendance Policy: Attendance during Final Exam days is mandatory. If a student does not attend and/or take their exam, they will receive a failing grade for that exam.
Planned Absences: If you know in advance that your student will be absent on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday (due to illness or a scheduled appointment), direct communication from a parent/guardian to the teacher is required to schedule a time to take the exam.
Illness: Exams missed due to excused absences must be made up by appointment outside of regular class time.
The I (incomplete) Grade (Student Handbook) protocols are on a case-by-case basis and teacher regulated.
Thank you for your continued support in helping our students finish the year strong!

OK2SAY is the student safety program which allows students to confidentially report tips on potential harm or criminal activities directed at students, school employees, and schools. It uses a comprehensive communication system to facilitate tip sharing among students, parents, school personnel, community mental health service programs, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and law enforcement officials about harmful behaviors that threaten to disrupt the learning environment.
Student Climate Team will be trained to conduct peer mediation for students who are in conflict with one another. The goal of having peer mediation at AHS is to help create a more positive culture in our school where both sides win and one party doesn't feel as if they are being treated unfairly. Please see Mr. Robarge in Restorative Center (School Success) if you need help resolving an issue. Peer mediators don't take sides or place blame on anyone!
