After May 21st, students may come to E206 to see Ms. O’Neil during 2nd hour or 4th hour to pick up pre-orders or to purchase a book.
As we distribute this year’s yearbooks, we want to take a moment to recognize the hard work and dedication of our student-led yearbook team. These students have invested countless hours designing, editing, and organizing the content to create a special keepsake that captures the spirit of our school year.
We kindly ask for your support in encouraging kindness and understanding as these students share the final product. Like any creative endeavor, the yearbook is a labor of love—not perfection—and a valuable learning experience for all involved.
Thank you for celebrating their efforts with us and for helping to foster a positive and respectful environment for our young creators.

ATTENDANCE AND THE VALUE AT BEING PRESENT AND ON TIME
I’d like to take a moment again as the year is coming to a close to remind everyone about the importance of being present and on time. Attendance is not just about being in the classroom—it’s about showing up for your education and taking responsibility for your success. Every day you are here, you have the opportunity to learn, grow, and engage with your teachers and classmates. Missing even one class can mean missing out on important lessons and experiences that help you build the skills needed for your future.
Being on time ~ avoid being tardy ~ is equally important. Being late to class is disruptive—not only to your own learning but to the learning of others. It’s also a habit that can carry over into the rest of your life. Being on time is a key skill for success, whether in school, at a job, or in any other area of life. Employers, colleges, and others expect you to be reliable and punctual, and practicing this now helps build that crucial habit for your future.
Let’s all work together to make sure we are on time and present every day, ready to learn and succeed. Remember, your education is an investment in your future, and being here—on time—every day is an important part of that.
Dual Enrollment & Early College -- What do you do not that ACC is Done?
Please be watching your student(s) attendance in the upcoming weeks. We saw an increase in single hour absences this week and more students leaving the building and not checking out in Attendance as is the protocol. AHS is a secure campus which means students cannot come and go and since ACC is now done, students must stay in the building when arriving and maynot leave and return freely because college classes are done Yes, this includes lunches as well, student may not come and go. Students that normally have collegee classe 2nd - 5th hours must remain in the Large Commons during the college class time. If they have the open hour during 1st, they are expected to arrive at the start of 2 hour'; if they have 6th hour college class, they are expected to leave. Please help us with this and discuss it with your student(s).
Thank you!
CLOSED CAMPUS!
AHS is a closed campus. If you are leaving or arriving for any reason, you must use the student entrance in the Attendance Office!
Students,
Helping another student gain entrance to the building through a non-approved entrance is a violation of building policy and our safety plan. Doing so will result in disciplinary action.
Some end-of-the-year reminders:
If you have failed any core classes, consider signing up for Summer Rebound.
Check in with your teachers if you are concerned about your grades..... there may still be time to pass!
Stressed about finals?? Now is a good time to review your notes, stay after for tutoring (Monday and Wednesday after school in the Wildcat Den)
There has been an increase in personal device use in the halls during class time. Do not be surprised if a staff member confiscates your device if they spot you in the halls with it. This includes ear buds. The year is winding down, but that does not change the expectations.
Emails ~ Are you checking it multiple times a day?
In today’s fast-paced world, staying informed and connected is essential for success in education. Email is one of our primary tools for communication, and checking it regularly is crucial. Here’s why we encourage you to check your email daily, and ideally multiple times a day:
Timely Updates: Important announcements, schedule changes, or updates about assignments or events are often shared via email. Checking frequently ensures you don’t miss anything critical.
Opportunities: Many opportunities, such as scholarships, extracurricular activities, or community events, are time-sensitive. Promptly seeing and acting on these can make all the difference.
Teacher Communication: Teachers frequently send reminders, feedback, or additional resources. Staying on top of these communications helps students stay organized and prepared.
Avoiding Overwhelm: By checking regularly, you can handle messages in smaller, manageable chunks instead of letting them pile up and risk missing something important.
Emergency Notices: In the rare event of urgent school updates (like weather closures or safety alerts), email is often the first place to look.
We appreciate your partnership in ensuring open and effective communication. By making it a habit to check emails regularly, you’ll help foster a smoother and more successful school year.

OK2SAY is the student safety program which allows students to confidentially report tips on potential harm or criminal activities directed at students, school employees, and schools. It uses a comprehensive communication system to facilitate tip sharing among students, parents, school personnel, community mental health service programs, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and law enforcement officials about harmful behaviors that threaten to disrupt the learning environment.
Student Climate Team has been trained to conduct peer mediation for students who are in conflict with one another. The goal of having peer mediation at AHS is to help create a more positive culture in our school where both sides win and one party doesn't feel as if they are being treated unfairly. Please see Mr. Robarge in the Restorative Center (School Success) if you need help resolving an issue. Peer mediators don't take sides or place blame on anyone!
